Lake District is England’s largest National Park which includes Scafell Pike – its highest mountain, Wastwater – its deepest lake and thriving communities like Keswick and Bowness-on-Windermere. My family & I only visited Keswick and Bowness and loved it.

Singapore

chspire22008. I was peeking out of the Oxford Hotel and saw this . . . there is quite an Old Catholic or Anglican influence on the design of the building. This view sort of struck some sentimental chord about my UK days.  The other picture is a building which is part of the National Library of Singapore, I think. Well, I was really looking forward to the Durian stint that was to take place in the evening. In the mean time I chanced upon this nice looking building.

2008. Another conference in New Delhi, this time the “tourist” part of several days’ work ended up in Agra, where the world famous Taj Mahal is located. There wasn’t much to see once you’re inside it but the whole thing is grandiose. It was great being there and to see with my eyes such a wonderful piece of architecture and of course, history.

2007. I attended a conference in Athens and another one in Germany. While in Frankfurt, I stayed with an old classmate and met some of his friends who eventually took me to Heidelberg. It was an interesting journey to see the place where our national hero JoRiz studied. University of Heidelberg, I learned was one of the leading schools of opthalmology during Rizal’s time. Yeah, I got to see the church parsonage he stayed during school breaks. A small street has been named Jose Rizal Strasse.

Kenya

2007, Global Christian Forum, Limuru, Kenya. After the conference (of course), a group of amateur safari enthusiasts got together and visited the nearest wildlife in Nairobi, the Lake Nakuru. It was like being in a huge zoo, but we have to be in the vehicle most of the time . . . self-preservation I suppose.
